Cold and disoriented, the chick needed warmth and fluids before being handed over to local wildlife rescue group, FAWNA.
FAWNA President, Meredith Ryan, identified the 502g chick as a White-bellied Sea Eagle, and suggests this youngster was probably a victim of our recent very strong winds and storms.
Meredith says she has already put out a call to a local fisher for any spare fish for help in feeding this youngster who will consume vast quantities of good quality fresh fish until it is ready to fend for itself back in its natural home range in the Hastings Valley.
