It was a fundraising event for Shannah Schroeder, a Year 11 student who spoke at the Luminosity youth summit earlier this year. She pitched an idea for a program for the young people of Wauchope, to link them with extra-curricular activities outside of school.
“The aim is not only to get students outside and moving, socialising and off screens, but also to add protective factors to children who are at risk, through increasing their participation in safe, fun activities in the community,” said Shannah.
Luminosity thought it was a great idea and have given Shannah a grant of $1000 to make her program come to life.
Staff and students at Wauchope High decided to add to her funds, to make her program as good as it can possibly be for our young people.
They held a multi cupcake day at school, and everyone who took part in the colour run made a gold coin donation.
