The Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, announced the grant for the refurbishment of Hurrell House as part of round two of the NSW Government’s $100 million Regional Cultural Fund.
Mrs Pavey said the money was allocated to preserve and display the unique heritage of the Comboyne district in Hurrell House.
The project is being managed by the Port Macquarie Hastings Council and the Comboyne Community Association. Ms Pavey and Mayor Peta Pinson travelled to Comboyne to congratulate the community and present them with an iced Christmas cake.
“When restoration is complete the house will showcase the community’s historical collections featuring the dairy and timber industries, within a landscaped garden and picnic area with parking facilities,” said Mrs Pavey.
There will be a collection of restored farming equipment, a working-model of a dairy farm, and in future, there can be a Men’s Shed and an Artist-in-Residence.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said this project is one of many receiving a share of the $47 million round two funding.
“It has been my pleasure to see first-hand how the first round of recipients have benefitted and I have no doubt that the next round of projects will continue to enrich the lives of communities across the State,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I congratulate Comboyne and the project’s proponents on their successful application.”
Community association president, Margot Anderson thanked the Minister and also Mayor Pinson for the support that the Council has given this project especially from staff members Beau Spry and Paul Koch.
The Regional Cultural Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to improve economic growth and productivity as well as community amenity with investment in regional communities.
