At Spencers Cutting, work is progressing well on the $25 million upgrade east of Wauchope with 90% of earthworks complete.
Pavement work has started on the eastern half of the project and the new Rawdon Island Road intersection, which is expected to open early next year.
“Work continues on extending the westbound overtaking lane, widening the highway to provide 3.5-metre lanes and two-metre shoulders, and installing new safety barriers, said Oxley member, Melinda Pavey MP.
“The pavement work on the western half of the project is due to start in January with the project due for completion in September 2019, weather permitting.”
The latest on the Rosewood-Paddock Road intersection is that since major work began in May at the $15 million upgrade west of Wauchope, more than 90 per cent of earthworks, vegetation clearing and drainage works has been completed.
The work five kilometres west of Wauchope includes realigning the road to remove dangerous bends, widening the road shoulders, improving drainage and installing new safety barriers.
“The project site will be closed from 21 December until 14 January with both lanes of the existing road open to traffic with a 60km/h speed limit during this time,” said Mrs Pavey.
”Work to complete kerb and gutter, gravel pavement, sprayed seal, safety barriers and line marking is expected to begin early next year and traffic is expected to switch onto the new alignment before mid-2019.”
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience.
