The first orchid show for 2019 in the New South Wales orchid calendar will be held by the Camden Haven Orchid Society at the Laurieton United Services Club on January 12 and 13.

Brilliant blooms of summer flowering orchids from vivid yellows to the most delicate pinks, evergreen bromeliads and foliage plants with exotic spikes are a special treat over the weekend.
Some of the genera to be exhibited will be Phalaenopsis Hybrids and Stanhopea Species orchids. Stanhopea orchids are grown in hanging baskets lined the paper bark or coconut fibre and flower out of the bottom of the basket and sort after by many enthusiasts.
The show will be open to the public on Saturday January 12 from 10am to 4pm and Sunday, January 13 from 9.30am to 3.00pm.
There will be exhibits by orchid growers from Camden Haven, Bellingen, Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Taree and Forster areas.
Judges from the Mid North Coast Judging Panel have been appointed to judge the show.
There will be potting demonstrations each day at 10.30am by Allan Wallace on January 12 and vice president Lloyd Edwards on January 13.
A society sales table for orchids, bromeliads and foliage plants and accessories will be available.
Society members will be happy to give advice on growing conditions and plants suitable to the region. Growing instruction leaflets will be available.
The presentation to prize winners will be at 3pm on Sunday, January 14 by a committee member of the Laurieton Services Club.
Entry will be by donation to the Oncology Centre at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
The show marshalls will be Allan Barnes and Richard Murray.
