Like all countries we have our challenges, but for anyone who has travelled abroad, they know that there is no place like Australia. We are the envy of the world, and are still considered to be the “lucky” country.
Australia Day is a great time of the year. In the height of summer following on from the Christmas festivities and the New Year, the day provides us with a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the sunshine and all the wonderful things we have here at our doorstep.
Whether it’s being part of the community celebrations, having a swim at the beach or in the river, a bush walk, a barbeque with family and friends, backyard cricket or a drink on the patio, Australia Day is a good time to pause and reflect on all the great things about our country as we head into another busy year.
Australia Day is the day that many people become Australian citizens. An unforgettable day that also provides them with an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful country they now call home at this time of community celebration.
All of us, no matter our background - indigenous, non-indigenous, naturalised or born here – should all be proud to be Australians. On Australia Day, take some time to enjoy our community and our beautiful country.
