TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Susie George said local opportunities lie in the health, well-being and community services and infrastructure, energy and construction industries in particular.
These are tipped to be the number one and number two employers in the NSW North Coast.
“Wauchope residents looking to begin their career or move jobs in the next three years should enjoy a positive outlook as the region continues to develop,” Ms George said.
“The TAFE NSW study predicted solid growth in employment across the Mid North Coast, with opportunities arising from our growing and ageing population. For example, employment in the aged or disabled carer occupation – already the most in-demand workers – is forecast to rise by 6.5% by 2021.
“Further, in the Mid North Coast 54% of health care and social assistance businesses surveyed reported skills shortages. Over the next five to 10 years, shortages are expected in allied health, physiotherapy, leadership, practice management, and for registered nurses and clinical managers.
“TAFE NSW offers a range of qualifications in industry growth areas such as the disability sector, aged care, leadership and management, healthcare and building trades – just to name a few.
“TAFE NSW is Australia’s largest education and training provider and will continue to innovate and invest in courses to meet the skills needs of the Wauchope area and surrounds.
“TAFE NSW delivers the skills that drive a strong economy, support vibrant communities and help individuals, enterprises and industries to adapt and thrive.
“With more than 1200 face-to-face and online courses available for 2019, and with current and future job prospects for Wauchope looking bright, I encourage the community to visit TAFE NSW to find out how you can upskill or reskill to pursue employment opportunities.”
Members of the local community can explore course and career options by visiting the TAFE NSW InfoFest all this week at Wauchope TAFE from 8.30am to 4pm. Or attend online information sessions at www.tafensw.edu.au
