The Discovery Fe26 exhibition promises a step into yesteryear with 20 artist blacksmiths getting ready to showcase their unique craft to the Hastings.
Opening at the Glasshouse on February 15, this exhibition is one not to be missed.
Usually thought of as a utilitarian practice, the modern artist blacksmith explores the essence of metal and wrings from its industrial exterior art that conveys thoughts into astonishing metal sculptures wrought by fire.
The exhibition is inspired by 2018 being 200 years since John Oxley crossed into the Hastings.
The artist blacksmith uses metal to investigate both the categorisation of Oxley’s journey and the manifold ways that steel can be fashioned into captivation.
Founded in Wauchope 25 years ago, the Artist Blacksmiths Association of NSW (ABANSW) has organised this event which is the first of its kind in more than five years.
The exhibition will remain at the Glasshouse until March, 17 before heading to Bellingen.
