Oxhill Organics outside Wauchope say a lack of green pastures at present means some yolks may be lighter in colour than usual.
“They are still great eggs,” said farmer Ann Eggert.
“If you love our eggs, you may have seen our note in your egg carton, explaining that the lack of green grass is affecting the colour. We did want to tell people that this is a natural occurrence.
“Despite the current circumstances we stay true our values and ethics to ensure our customers receive produce how nature intended. This means without artificial colour, yolk colourants or feed additives. 100% organic pasture-ranged eggs.”
Ann said feedback from customers has been quite positive.
“Some of the eggs have paler yolks, some don’t. Production has gone way down because it is so dry and so hot,” she said.
