‘A Few Good Women’ is on Saturday evening March 9 and is a concert born from a wish to perform and share more music composed by women.
This concert will be one of Wauchope Community Arts’ International Women’s Day events, and will feature classical and musical theatre works by women composers through the ages.
The concert features a wide range of music, with music from 12th Century Abbess Hildegard of Bingen, famous Parisian 20thCentury composition teacher Nadia Boulanger.
"Contemporary Australian composers Sue Johnson and Sarah Hopkins and many more that frankly, you may not have heard of. This concert is here to show you that we should have heard of them, and to present a sampler of wonderfulness," said musician, singer and composer Rose Wilson who will perform.
The show is presented by local women musicians- vocalist Rose Wilson, pianists Lydia Wills and Natasha Marshall, sax and clarinetist Carol Irving, violinist Abigail French and vocal ensemble ‘Iintombi Zicula’. Vocalist/pianist Natalie Searle is the support act.
"The concert promises to be engaging, surprising, informative and inspiring, and is also for a good cause, with proceeds going to the local Australian Breastfeeding Association group," said Rose Wilson.
The concert is on Saturday evening, March 9 at 7.00pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets at the door. $15, $10 for members.
