It's all about the kids at this year's Port Macquarie Running Festival, according to race director Kevin Chilvers.

Over 200 children have registered for the Kids #RunHappy 3km event on Town Green at 3pm on Saturday, which is one of the only events not to have sold out before the weekend.
Sunday's Treble Breakwall Buster, half marathon, 10km and 5km events have all sold out, pending late cancellations.
Mr Chilvers said there was a focus on having fun while running this year, particularly for younger athletes.
"Traditionally it has been a Sunday only event finishing the same day but it has had growth this year to be a bigger festival vibe," he said.
"There's more tourism and spectacle as well as a local event for the kids.
"Over 200 have registered for the kids run but we'd like to see over 300 register."
Mr Chilvers said a record number of more than 2000 runners had registered across the events from as far away as Perth and Tasmania.
"The festival is a fantastic drawcard for the town and so many tourists are coming to town to kick off their fun run calendar here," he said.
"We have some elites chasing a time but it's mostly about people getting out and having a good time.
"The theme this year is to run happy while raising funds for Bush to Beach (an exchange program between Port Macquarie and the Ntaria indigenous community outside of Alice Springs)."
The festival's famous Treble Breakwall Buster - consisting of one combined time for three different events - is drawing a crowd this year, according to the race director.
"There are over 100 toeing the line for the treble because it is very unique, an interesting challenge and a good stepping stone for runners looking to complete a marathon," he said.
"The event was created originally through requests by runners who were doing it unofficially, so we decided to make it official."
The monster triple-header run starts on Sunday at 7am on Town Green with a 21.1km half marathon, then 10km run and a quick 5km sprint to cool off.
Start times are at 7am, 9am and 10am as athletes race for the glory of a Break Buster Medal to be presented at 11.45am.
Mr Chilvers said he'd also encourage people to attend the Indigenous Marathon Foundation's fun run.
The Indigenous Marathon Foundation #WalkSweatInspire 3km run is expected to be held from 4pm on Saturday at Town Green.
It will remain open for late entries at the registration tent on the Town Green.
"I'd encourage runners to also attend the walk or run for IMF," he said.
"There has been some excellent growth in indigenous running community in Port Macquarie."
