Wauchope Hockey Club believes there is always space for more sport in the community, and they are promoting another fantastic team-based option for kids and adults alike.

"We want to continue to promote this as an option for parents who don’t want to travel all over the Hastings area for their kids to play sport - our teams play in one location (at the Port Macquarie Hastings Hockey Associations Hockey Facility) at a set time," said club president, Heath Thompson.

“We are small local hockey club that is big on the belief in promoting the fun and development of skill of all of our players over winning."

Heath says their family friendly sporting philosophy encourages socialisation and the building of friendships through  teams which cater to all ages groups.

"Hockey is a great skill-based and teamwork-based sport.  We encourage the kids to thrive with their own individual skill but within a supportive team structure and we are proud that now with the continuance of the NSW sporting Active Kids Rebate the club is can focus on promoting this program at the 4-11 year old age groups at a reduced cost," he said.

When a parent uses their active kids voucher, registration costs for a 4-7 year old comes out at no cost to the parents.  Wauchope Hockey Club even provide each new player with their uniform and a voucher that covers the cost of their stick, mouthguard and shin pads.

The club are hosting a come and try gala/registration day bbq this Saturday March 16 from 9am to 10.30am at Port Macquarie hockey fields at 1, Hockey Place, off Ocean Road.

They will have talented and experienced coaches there, running games and skills for people of all ages from four years and up, to come and try out the sport of hockey with no commitment to sign up.
