Emergency crew have had their hands full after a storm battered the Mid North coast over the March 9 weekend.

State Emergency Services from Port Macquarie were sent out to support local crews deployed in Wauchope after significant damage was recorded in Pembrooke.

Port Macquarie SES unit deputy officer Mark Anderson said personnel had assisted with the clearing of fallen trees and making properties safe.

"On Sunday (March 9), Port Macquarie SES attended a property in the local area to repair a leaking roof," he said.

"The team successfully resolved an issue with the roof tiles to minimise further damage to the property.

Mr Anderson said a number of members who had recently passed their storm and water damage course were operational.

"I’m pleased that some of these new recruits were active in supporting their local community over the weekend," he said.

"Our unit is on standby 24/7 to assist the community in storms, floods and tsunamis. It’s all part of our organisation’s mission in saving lives and protecting communities."

A severe thunderstorm warning had been issued for the Mid North Coast and affected areas included Port Macquarie, Taree, Kempsey, Dungog and Murrurundi.

Essential Energy Mid North Coast operations manager Mathew Reedy said over a kilometre of the electrical network required repair with damage to ten power poles and twelve spans of power lines.

"Saturday saw over 800 customers affected by the storms that hit the Mid North Coast causing significant damage to the electrical network in a number of locations particularly Telegraph Point, Pembroke and surrounding areas," he said on Monday.

"Power was restored to the majority of customers by late Sunday afternoon, with just over 40 customers remaining without supply.

"Both local crews and crews from other depots will continue with their restoration efforts today to get the power back on for remaining customers as quickly and safely as possible."
