He has received the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Contributor Award for his commitment to the dairy industry and the Sydney Royal competitions.
Presenting the award, Robert Ryan OAM said the award is presented annually to one recipient only, recognising the individual contribution made by a single person in his own right, rather than representing any corporate body.
"From your first days with us in 1981, as a Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show Steward, through to your introduction to judging in 1983, and now almost 40 years later your continued involvement has seen you work tirelessly to improve the dairy industry and with that the value of our competitions," said Mr Ryan.
"Your expertise and knowledge are without peer, and your enthusiasm and willingness to help guide others set a benchmark for all involved with the RAS. It is an absolute privilege to engrave the name Mark Livermore on to the Roll of Honour," he added.
Mark said he was floored, flattered and speechless when they presented it to him.
"Now, it's started to sink in, and I feel truly honoured to have won it," he said.
The very first show he got involved with was the Wauchope Show when he led a champion jersey cow around when he was four years old. He became a steward and then he and John Eggert went to Sydney in the late Sixties with Friesian cattle.
"I love shows and what they do for their communities. You get together with people from all over, catching up with people you only get to see once a year. You see that the hardships you're going through are shared by other people," he said.
"It's a community working together to display the quality that comes off the land. This year in Sydney we had 870 cheeses and dairy products, which is very good," he said.
Mark is looking forward to the Royal Show in Sydney from April 12 going over Easter, and then the Wauchope Show the weekend after.
