Eddie and Zoe Lederhose are the proud owners of Lederville, a cattle property on the Rocky River, which has never before been seen to run dry.
"It's been reduced to puddles of slime, surrounded by burnt grass," said Eddie.
"We know that the drought has had a disastrous effect west of the range. However, on the Eastern Fall country, the effects of the big dry and relentless heat are taking their toll."
"We have hundreds of people who enjoy our river flats on camping expeditions across the year and absolutely love the place. Our herd of beautiful Brangus cattle and Australian stock horses, that have taken many years to selectively breed, are now at risk," said Zoe.
"Out of grass and very low on water, we are about to lose it all unless we find temporary paddocks to get them through the winter."
Prices of cattle are at an extreme low due to no-one having any pasture. Eddie says a steer at a recent sale cost $40 to transport from the farm, and was sold for $12.
"We are not prepared to see our beautiful breeders go for nothing to the abattoir and are appealing for any assistance short or long term agistment for our lovely quiet mumma cows," added Zoe.
NSW is 99.9% in drought. The coastal country has received reasonable rains and there are many empty paddocks around. The family say repair of fences and portable fencing is all possible.
Eddie and Zoe say many people never thought of using their grass, that grazing the paddocks is great for the country, and the cattle can get rid of some rubbish that grows out of control.
"Mobile steel yards are transportable, can be moved from paddock to paddock, making small blocks usable. We are in need of help and will pay well for the use of your grass," added Eddie.
