Narrabri is one of those farming areas that has been and continues to be hard hit by the drought, and the mental health problems and financial hardship that have come with it.
Concerned about a number of recent farmer suicides in the region, Narrabri Rotary, led by President Darrell Tiemens set up the "Neighbours in Need" program.
Darrell spoke recently at a function giving an overview on how Farmers are reluctant to accept charity and how they invited farmers to anonymously nominate neighbours who are in need of assistance.
Eftpos cards were then distributed to those nominated in amounts of between $200 and $2000. The farmers were asked to use these cards to support local businesses by buying locally.
Patti Parsons from Wauchope Rotary says that with the help of Newcombe Coach Lines, a weekend drought-busting bus trip has been organised travelling to Narrabri on Friday May 31, returning Sunday June 2.

Donations are tax-deductible through the Rotary Australia Benevolent Society.
"We are enormously grateful for the generous support we have received locally but the job is not yet complete," said Wauchope Rotary president, Reg Pierce.
