Steve Bryson (Wauchope Gazette April 18) is right that the climate is changing but not that this is just a natural course of events.

The climate has of course changed during the geological past, just not this fast, with the exception of catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts or the eruption super volcanoes.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the world's volcanoes, both on land and undersea, generate about 200 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, while our automotive and industrial activities emit some 24 billion tons of CO2 emissions every year worldwide.
The facts speak for themselves: Greenhouse gas emissions from volcanoes comprise less than one percent of those generated by today's human endeavours.
I don't blame children for striking on climate change. What else can they do when adults choose to do nothing but leave it to them to deal with the consequences of the approaching climate train wreck.
