In the estuaries, bream numbers and quality have started to pick up and should continue to do so after this full moon. Evening sessions will be particularly productive with either gut baits or mullet strips.
The breakwalls and Limeburners are also worth a look for blackfish, although they have reduced in size of late.
On the flathead front, good numbers are still being taken further upstream around Blackmans Point using either lures or whitebait.
There are still a few reasonable whiting in the same location, and at Lake Cathie despite the critically low water level.
For mulloway enthusiasts, the next few nights are prime for targeting these apex predators from the lower reaches. Live mullet will certainly be the bait of choice, and large hard-bodied lures will also be well worth throwing.
School-sized fish have also been active around the highway bridges and deeper holes up river, with soft vibes the go.
Off the beaches, despite red weed still creating problems in certain locations, tailor numbers have been consistent with most stretches of sand producing well.
Bream numbers have begun to pick up, with Lighthouse and North Beach worth a look. The next few weeks after this full moon often sees the best bream action of the year off the sand, with mullet strips and pipis the premier offerings.
Those fishing the evening high tides will also be a great chance for mulloway, with worms the go for school-sized fish and tailor or bonito fillets for a larger specimen.
Off the rocks, most headlands are producing nice tailor with the ledges around Crescent Head holding a few fish around the 2kg mark.
Drummer and blackfish numbers have improved and will keep doing so as the water temperature drops. Still the occasional longtail tuna about, but the activity has dropped off.
Offshore, snapper numbers and quality have begun to pick up. Best results have come from the close in reefs off Lighthouse, although Plomer is also well worth a look.
Wider out, pearl perch and teraglin numbers are solid, while Trag Rock is worth a look for kingfish.
If you're simply after a good feed, by all reports the flattie grounds in around 50 meters east of the bar are worth a look.
On the pelagic front, no real news over the past week although with the water temperature still reasonable, mackerel remain an option for a few weeks yet.
