Get out your golf clubs and bring joy to seriously ill children.

The annual Trek4kidz Golf Day is on Sunday June 2 teeing off at 9.30am at Wauchope Country Club. It costs $30 a head for a three man ambrose which includes a light lunch. There will be prizes and auction prizes.

"It's always a great day in a really good cause. All the money we raise goes straight to the Starlight Foundation and everyone is welcome," said Trek4kidz media officer Michelle McDonald.

"Our major sponsor for the day is Shades 2000, and Wauchope Country Club are always very supportive. This is our fifteenth year of running the event, and everyone always has a great time," she added.

Tracey Peters from Shades 2000 said they like to support the local community.

"This is one of the best causes around and it's local people helping local people," she said.

All the money goes straight to the Starlight Foundation, which aims to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families, through hospital services such as Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Room.

This years Trek4kidz is called 'Sapphire to Sand' from August 24-31 and it promises to be a great week in the bush. It starts in Gloucester NSW, the gateway to Barrington Tops, then along dirt roads, stopping at Mudgee, Armidale, Coffs Harbour for a lay day, Wauchope, South West Rocks and finishing in Tuncurry, where Wallis Lake meets the Tasman Sea.

One of the people who will do the Trek4kidz in his Batmobile is well-known Wauchope local, Farmer John Eggert, who will don a superhero cape and become Batman.

"I've done the trek lots of times and I'm looking forward to having a different care this time, with a bit more power," he said.

"We keep coming back to support Starlight because we've experienced firsthand the impact Starlight has on sick kids and their families; it makes the trek worthwhile," added Mrs McDonald.
