It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and it affects so many that we know - and that is a pretty scary realisation isn't it?

But what can the average person do about it? You may not a scientist or a doctor there is still something you can do.

Three friends have decided to "Turn the town Pink" to raise money for breast cancer research and want your support.

Suzie Collins, Loraine Eadie and Heather Smith are going all out in pink from June 3-9 and are calling on the town to join in the fun all for a great cause.

"We all know someone who has had or has Breast cancer, it's so prevalent," Ms Smith said.

"We want to help get behind the National Breast Cancer Foundation's initiative to have no more deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

"To do this, they need money for research.

"The organisation don't currently get any government funding, so it's up to us to get involved."

A "Turn the Town Pink" launch party will be held at Beechwood Hotel on Friday, May 31.

Tickets are $20 each which will include complementary glass of pink sparkling wine and dessert.

Tickets are available from Beechwood Hotel and Harcourts Real Estate in Wauchope from May 17.

Sponsorship packages for this event are also available and everyone is encouraged to come dressed in your best pink outfit.

Following this night of pink, several local organisations and businesses throughout the area will #GoPINK to show their support and help raise funds, including Curly's Café, Wauchope Hospital, Beechwood Public School and Harcourts Real Estate.

The trio are encouraging any other businesses or organisations who want to help cure breast cancer to get involved.

There are two ways you can do this straight away; donate at one of the businesses in town and don your pink best.

It's simple. Whether it's a few coins or a few hundred dollars every bit counts. All funds donated this June will go towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation's research aimed at Zero Breast Cancer deaths by 2030.
