Just before 6pm on May 19, Wauchope Fire and Rescue crews were called to a property on Randall Street, Wauchope with reports of a fire at a property.
A spokesperson from Fire and Rescue NSW said crews were able to contain the fire quickly.
"The original call came at 5.45pm on Sunday night to a house in Randall Street, Wauchope," they said.
"Initally we had reports of one person going in and out of the house which was a concern as we thought more occupants may be inside."
Crews arrived within 10 minutes of the call and were assisted by crews from Port Macquarie and surrounds along with the RFS.
Quickly it was determined there was only one person in the house and the spokesperson said two crews entered the house from the front and two crews from the side quickly extinguishing the fire.
"The single occupant was treated for smoke inhalation and the fire was contained within 20 minutes to a single room," he said.
He said the fire was not suspicious and the property was handed back over the owner less than two hours after the call.
