The match was played at South West Rocks.
Going into the half time break behind just 16-0, there was little to suggest the match would see a blow-out scoreline.
The home side actually had two players spend time in the sin bin in either half - Neville Donovan in the first stanza and Mal Webster three minutes after the half time break.
The Dragons are notorious for capitalising on opposition errors and it was during Webster's stint in the bin that Long Flat's Ethan McKenna scored his team's first points of the contest. The fullback then converted his own try to bring the score to 16-6.
And a revival was on the cards.
But it didn't materialise with the Marlins going on a second half try-scoring run.
From the 51st minute to the 78th minute, the Marlins crossed for eight tries and booting six conversions.
For the home side, Alf Drew and Michael McPhillips crossed for three tries each, with one each to Curtly Scott, Peter Bula, Malcolm Webster, Beau Russell-Docherty and Sam Howe.
Long Flat was best served by Matt Jones with 22 hit ups, Dennis Jones with 15 and Tom Willemsen with 14.
In defence, front rower Matt Jones recorded with 41 tackles while Dennis Jones, Jason Costigan and Willemsen recorded 21 tackles each.
Meanwhile Kendall scored a solid 50 points to 14 win over the Lower Macleay Magpies.
The Blues led 16-4 at the half time break but went on with the job in the second half.
Riley Opdam, Tamati Wigman and Matt Hensley all scored tries with Pearce booting two conversions while Graham Roberts crashed over for the Magpies on the stroke of halftime.
Lower Macleay kick-started the second half with a try to Ronald Sines and when Ben Goulder booted the conversion the score was suddenly 16 to 10.
Kendall responded with three quick tries - Jack Chapman, Wigman and Brad Smith all scored tries with Wigman booting one conversion for a 32-10 lead.
Goulder closed the gap with a try but the Blues posted further tries to Eddy Eggins, Wigman (his third) while Hensley and Smith made it doubles for the day. Wigman kicked two more conversions for the final score of 50 to 14.
