Principal Cameron Osborne says the works are split into three separate areas.
"The main works project, the construction of 13 new classrooms, are on track," he said.
"This is a very exciting project for our school and we are in a very fortunate position.
"Next year will be fantastic for our school population with this major work opened along with the other refurbishments and renovations."
Along with the 13 new classrooms, block 4 is being refurbished and set to be completed in late August.
Mr Osborne said this area includes upstairs room for extra curricula activities while downstairs will be used for student well-being and literacy and numeracy programs.
As well, the school's toilet block is being split in four sections, for kindergarten to year 2 boys and girls and years 3 to 6 boys and girls.
"Work is also set to start soon on the installation of a security fence around the school perimeter," he added.
Mr Osborne said all the works were 'unbelievable' for the school population.
"We are expecting up to five classrooms for kindergarten in 2020 and they will be the first students to use our new building," he said.
"This is a very exciting time for Wauchope Public School."
The construction of the new classrooms saw the demolition of the 100-year-old section of the school.
The Wauchope District Historical Society briefly held out hopes it could relocate the building. However, the organisation was unable to raise the necessary funds in the short time frame allowed.
