Normally more at home in the defensive role as a sweeper, Cook asked coach Trevor Lindsay to be put up front with the home side holding a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time.
"I said why not," Lindsay said.
She then banged in a second-half hat-trick to keep Wauchope right in the mix for the finals.
The Waratahs currently sit in third position, but could slip to fourth or fifth with Camden Haven and Kempsey Saints each holding a game in hand.
It could have been an even more one-sided contest with the coach more than happy to take the points and move on to more challenging tasks in weeks ahead.
"It was one game where you do what you have to do," he said.
"We have a habit of going really well against the better teams and losing all of our rhythm against the lower teams.
"The team we play next week will be a tougher ask as they are one of the ones we are battling with for third."
Kacia Goodsell scored a brace and also provided the pin-point cross for the opening goal in the first minute while Mackenzie Dobson also found the back of the net in the win.
Wauchope Waratahs will take on the fourth-placed Camden Haven Redbacks side at Fairmont Gardens on Saturday. Kick off is at 1pm.
