The theme for this year's celebrations is Voice.Treaty.Truth, highlighting the need for all Australians to work together for a shared future.
It's about taking the time to recognise our past and where we've come from, and to understand the history of our nation's first people.
This is the history of all Australia, and it is important that we all understand our heritage, and what we've been through, so we can move forward together as one.
This week there's been a range of activities already to celebrate NAIDOC week. They started with the Birpai Gamba (Call out) and flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning, and the Community Fun Day at the Wauchope Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
Traditional dances, listening to elders' yarns and stories, and heaps of fun games and activities for kids to enjoy are always real highlights.
Plus, the popular Port Macquarie Community Fun Day takes place from 10am until 2pm on Thursday at the Port Macquarie Racecourse.
Other events still to come are the Men's Golf Challenge and the Women's Barefoot Bowls, both on Friday.
It's been great to see so many of our community come together, get involved and learn more about our local Aboriginal culture, while connecting and enjoying each other's company.
As a community, we have a great spirit built on mateship and giving everyone a fair go.
It really does make us appreciate just how lucky we are to have an inclusive community, and to live in such a beautiful and vibrant place.
Congratulations to the Birpai and Bunyah Local Aboriginal Land Councils for making this year's NAIDOC week truly one to remember.
