Wauchope Tennis Club pays tribute to Pansy Ostler and Pattie Tudhope

Wauchope tennis players bade a fond farewell to two players who made their mark over the years.

Pappinbarra's Pansy Ostler is hanging up her racquet at the age of 87, and her friend, Pattie Tudhope, is also retiring from the Tuesday competition at the Wauchope Club, at the tender age of 81.

The ladies formed a guard of honour for the veteran players on Tuesday July 2, as they walked off the court and into the clubhouse for a special lunch, which included a cake in the shape of a tennis racquet.

"It's been great fun, and we've made lots of friends," said Pansy.

"We will still come back sometimes and see everyone," added Pattie.

Long-time friend and fellow player, Donna Armfield said they were two amazing ladies, and it had been an honour to play with and against them.

"They will be much missed," she added.

Betsy Bestwick from Wauchope Tennis Club described Pansy and Pattie as a wonderful, inspirational pair, and wished them well.

They were presented with flowers, cards, gifts and certificates of appreciation, and they thanked all their fellow players for their generosity.
