The NSW government's My Community Project funds schemes in each NSW electorate to improve the wellbeing of people and communities.
Successful projects will be determined through a public vote and the projects that receive the most support will receive funding. Up to $260,000 is available for each electorate. My Community Project is made possible by the NSW Generations Fund.
Local residents can cast an online vote for between three and five of 22 nominated projects.
Projects in our area include:
Kathy Wonderley hopes people will vote for Wauchope's first toilet facility with access for everyone.
She says there are at present no appropriate toilet facilities in Wauchope for people with quadriplegia and paraplegia which enable adults who require a hoist and adjustable change table to be able to go to the toilet.
"This project would for the first time enable these people to go to the toilet in their own community thereby enabling them the ability to stay and enjoy their own community," said Ms Wonderley.
Sonia Bowers hopes people will vote to renovate and rejuvenate the Wauchope CWA Hall beside the library in High Street.
"The hall had its 50th birthday in January of 2019 and is in dire need of update. Currently, the hall is used for CWA events, Church Groups, and election pre-polling. However, the Hall, which is a vastly underused asset within the community and is pending renovation, can be used to engage and enrich the lives of community members across all facets of life," said Ms Bowers.
The project proposes replacing the aged kitchen equipment, tired and heavy tables and chairs, building a partition wall to create a safer space free from hazards, installing a projector and screen to offer not-for-profit movie evenings and installing air-conditioning to make sweltering summer days bearable.
The Wauchope Primary Wellbeing Space proposes revitalising a dilapidated school building to become a hub of wellbeing for vulnerable students to access throughout the school day. During break times all students will be able to use the space for small-group play under guidance of teachers. Wauchope Public School's Counsellor and Learning and Support Teacher would also work from this space
The Byabarra project proposes eight outdoor pieces of fitness apparatus to promote a healthy lifestyle for the community. Byabarra is a small community, 25kms from Wauchope. The availability of fitness equipment would mean that community members can use the fitness equipment locally, without having to travel to larger centres.
Exercise groups are planned, and the Byabarra Tennis Club and the Byabarra Hall Trust will organise community volunteers to prepare and level the chosen site prior to installation of the equipment by Outdoor Fitness Australia. This will commence as soon as funds are available.
It's very easy to vote - all you need is your Medicare card and a free MyServiceNSW account, which also provides quick access to a wide range of NSW Government services such as the CTP Green Slip refund for eligible policyholders.

Voting concludes on 15 August with successful projects to be announced from September 2019.
