Violinist Ye Jin Min will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Franck and Faure with pianist Alexander Yau at the Kendall School of Arts.
The young musicians are set to perform as part of the Kendall PhiloMusica series.
Event spokesperson Keri Levy said Ye Jin Min as a charismatic and exciting performer who has since continued her studies and career in the US.
"She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at Yale, one of the world's leading universities," she said.
Ye Jin will be joined by Alexander Yau, one of Australia's most gifted pianists and collaborative artist.
Alexander is currently based at New York's Julliard School and Keri said he is in demand as a concerto artist, recitalist and collaborative pianist throughout Australia and overseas.
The PhiloMusica Series combines topics of philosophy with the performance of music.
The afternoon performance will be introduced by philosopher and musician Goetz Richter, with a pre-concert talk from 1pm.
The discussion on August 4 will focus on tone and its philosophical importance.
"Tone determines much of what we think and feel and it directs how we listen and respond to each other," Keri said.
"Reflecting on tone in music may help us to improve the relationship with tone in life."
Proceeds from the Kendall PhiloMusica series benefit the Kendall National Violin Competition.
Tickets to the concert are $30.
