2019 Group 3 grand final: Wauchope Blues to tackle Macleay Valley Mustangs

Well what a season it has been.

From starting the season in flying form winning six from the opening seven games in the first round after being written off as no hopers by Group 3 commentators.

The Blues showed that they were genuine contenders, which internally we all believed from the very start.

A mid-season form slump started whispers from those critics again saying the Blues weren't much hope in the finals.

However, look at us now staring down the barrel of a home grand final, the first in five years and let me tell you as the proud president of this great club it feels great!

After hosting the grand final in 2014 ironically against Macleay Valley, the Blues have been in a bit of a rebuilding stage.

Last year saw the Blues back in the finals for the first time since 2014 and they fell just short - finishing third.

To be back contending for grand finals is a credit to the players who have stuck around and all of the committee members, support staff and of course the die hard supporters ... thank you.

To see how the community jumps behind the club at times like this is a proud display of community spirit.

They have literally painted the town blue and red this past week.

Come Sunday, we will be ready to write some more memories into those proud history books of the Blues and I encourage all proud Wauchopians to come out to Lank Bain and cheer your footy team on.

On a final note I'd like to wish coach Anthony Boyd and all the boys that are not only playing on the weekend but also been involved with the first grade side this year all the very best of luck, bring it home you mighty Blues.
