Spring has arrived and it is the perfect time to enjoy some beautiful music.

The annual Spring Soiree, which showcases vocal and instrumental groups from St Columba Anglican School, will be held at St Thomas' Anglican Church at 7pm on Wednesday, September 11.

Members of the public are warmly invited, and entry is free. It is a short program, lasting around an hour.

The Soiree will open with the chamber music ensemble, Da Camera which focuses on music from the baroque and renaissance periods. The acoustics of St Thomas' are perfect for this style of performance.

Following Da Camera will be three vocal groups. The boys' group Man Shed, who were such a hit in the Glasshouse when they supported the Welsh Men's Choir earlier this year, will be followed by the girls' ensemble Iintombi Zicula. Both choirs sing a wide range of musical styles and are a delight.

There will be several solo performances through the evening, and the concert will close with a bracket from the Chamber Choir. This group of young people were lucky enough to travel to New York last year to perform in Carnegie Hall, and tackle remarkably difficult and beautiful classical works. St Thomas' is the perfect place to enjoy this.

The quality of music produced by these young people, and the joy and commitment they show in their music making is always a huge treat. There will be refreshments available before the concert to raise money for the St Thomas' Cafe Project which supports programs in the community.
