RU OK? aims to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. Their message is that you don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Amanda Lang at Wauchope TAFE said their event last week brought a community feel.

"We are connected. We want the students to know that we care about them. It's okay to talk about not feeling okay, and bring it to the front," she said.

Sharon Bourke from Wauchope TAFE said they had put together a program to help students realise that everyone is not always okay.

"We have spiritual fortune cookies to give people a little bit of inspiration to their day. We are having afternoon tea, and games of table tennis and we are making stress balls, as an act of mindfulness," she said.

"We often forget that there are things that bring joy to our lives that we don't take time to do," said Amanda.

"For example, spending time in nature, watching the clouds drift by, spending an evening with good friends, or playing musical instruments," she added.

The students were given a fun activities catalogue wich included lighting scented candles, birdwatching, going on a picnic and many more.
