A 12-year-old boy has been flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle with head injuries, after being hit by a car in Wauchope this morning (Wednesday September 18).

The boy was treated for a head injury and facial bruising at the scene.
Emergency services were called to the accident near Wauchope Public School at 8.37am on Wednesday, September 18, after reports that a child had been hit by a car.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Campbell and Young Streets.
NSW Ambulance arrived on scene within two minutes at 8.39am, treated the boy at the scene before taking him to Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter was later called to take the child to Newcastle for further treatment.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said inquiries are continuing regarding the accident.
