Some 65 cyclists and their support crew of 10 stopped at Blackbutt Park in Wauchope for lunch, as part of the 2019 Alive and Well Ride for the Chopper.
They started their epic seven-day journey on Saturday in Coffs Harbour, and are hoping to arrive in Tamworth on Friday, September 20.
Organiser Tamara O'Reilly said they were happy to undertake the gruelling event to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
"All funds raised during this event will ensure that nobody ever has to pay to be assisted by the rescue helicopter service," she said.
"If you see them riding through town, give them a cheer. The cyclists are doing the best they can. We had a fantastic night in Port Macquarie last night and we're looking forward to another one in the Hastings Hotel in Wauchope tonight."
Richard McGovern who is the Westpac Rescue Helicopter community liaison officer said it was very poignant that the aircraft was on its way to Port Macquarie to pick up a young boy who was hit by a car in Wauchope.
"It really brings it home to the riders how important it is to raise funds," he said.
The riders have so far raised over $60,000. Anyone wanting to donate should go to the service's gofundme page by clicking here or going to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service's Facebook page.
