Greater Port Macquarie's diverse, though sometimes hidden, creative talent will be uncovered in a unique exhibition opening soon.
Drawn From Here will open on Saturday 28 September, 7pm at Sunset Framing and Gallery. Now in its second year, the project attracted over 60 artists, illustrators, writers, designer and photographers, from beginners to professionals, who were each supplied with a blank journal to complete in any manner they wish.
The resulting collection of creative art journals, completed with paint, pencil, thread, collage, photographs, text and so much more, will be displayed in an interactive exhibition that all ages will enjoy.
Project Coordinator, Katherine Appleby, says it's unique.
"What makes this exhibition different is that viewers are invited to don a pair of supplied white gloves and browse through the journals themselves. Displaying art journals, rather than finished artworks allows us to see deeper into the creative life and process of each maker and enjoy a behind-the-scenes glimpse," she said.
The exhibition will be officially opened by local retired art teacher, Robyn Wallace, and wine and refreshments will be served. The collection of art journals will be on display at Sunset Framing and Gallery, 2/25 Central Road, Port Macquarie, from Saturday 28 September to Saturday 12 October 2019.
