Club treasurer Greg Cavanagh said umbilical cord research was something the club took very seriously.
"In September each year our club runs a special raffle to raise money for the collection of blood from the umbilical cords of newborns and the subsequent research using this blood, into a cure for Leukemia in children," Mr Cavanagh said.
"New research indicates this Cord Blood may also be used to regenerate new skin for burns victims and regrowth of heart and brain tissue."
He said the club was very happy with how many people donated generously to the raffle in 2019 which was drawn on October 5.
"Lions again conducted a successful raffle in conjunction with Hasting Coop IGA and raised over $1000 for this great cause.
"The lucky winner was Maryanne Arnold of Wauchope who was excited to receive her prize of $300 worth of shopping vouchers with IGA.
"Wauchope Lions want to thank all those people who bought tickets and continue to support this and other community projects sponsored by Lions."
