It's part of the council's Bridgeworks Maintenance Program and ongoing commitment to the regions road network. The existing bridge is located 250m north of Pembrooke Road, with works to include replacement of selected girders and piles, and installation of a new deck.
Works are scheduled to commence around 22 October 2019 and are expected to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. A number of road closures are required to carry out the works.
At this stage, Council plans to implement five days of road closures (two consecutive days in the first week, two in the second week etc) during the three week period and on these days the bridge will be closed to all traffic from 9am to 3pm.
Roadside signs will be used to communicate the confirmed road closure dates with residents, with the signs updated one week before each closure. Unfortunately, there are no detour routes available while these works are carried out.
"In an emergency situation our staff will do their utmost to accommodate those in urgent need, and will assist in providing access for emergency services," said a council spokesperson.
"Council would like to thank residents and road users for their understanding and patience while these important works take place."
