My partner and I recently camped at the Wauchope Showground to ensure our horses were safe from the fire threat.

We can't thank the volunteers enough for the facilities and support they provided. Volunteers worked tirelessly. Some of the amazing people that we met included Scott, Heather, Neil, Maree and Wendy. There were others whose names we never learned.
Volunteers stayed overnight, fed animals, organised supplies, cleaned facilities, managed donations, coped with large amounts of paperwork requested by government, cooked tirelessly and did many other unseen tasks.
On Monday, when many more animals arrived than could be accommodated in the existing facilities, they organised additional steel pens to be delivered and erected. The volunteers managed stressed people and stressed animals with tact and compassion. They created order out of a chaotic situation.
We are so grateful that we were able to use the existing wooden stalls for our four horses. We are well aware that the stalls are old and in need of repair, however we don't know what we would have done if we had not been able to use them.
One of our ponies is blind so we couldn't just put him in an agistment paddock. The existing wooden horse stall facilities were vital. We would like to express our sincere thanks and admiration to the volunteers of the Wauchope Show Society.
