A belief in the power of music to heal is behind their efforts to call in favours for the concert.
"Live music in a creative, supportive environment already draws good crowds to Wauchope Arts events, but now there's an even better reason to get yourself to the iconic Wauchope Arts hall," said program director Krissa Wilkinson.
"The Wauchope Arts team is harnessing its contacts within musical and local arts circles to host what will be a heart-warming, community-focused concert and fundraiser to support local fire-fighters.
"Everyone in the community is invited for an evening of live music featuring a special performance by the amazing Leesa Gentz and Julz Parker, aka Hussy Hicks.
"When it seems like the world's in absolute chaos, coming together and listening to beautiful music helps keep us sane."
Krissa caught up with the Hussy Hicks duo at Mullum Music Festival.
"The girls had heard stories of loss and hardship from our community, and when I mentioned the idea for the gig, they offered to dash back down the coast specially for it."
Many in the crowd at Hussy Hicks' sold-out show in October say it was one of the best they've ever seen at the hall.
"To have them return for a free concert is a huge treat for everyone, and we'll throw open all the doors to make sure no one misses out," Krissa said.
The evening will kick off with the chance to enjoy a shared meal before the music. Everyone can bring a plate to share from 5.30pm. Cold beer, wine, soft drinks, tea, coffee, cake and choc-tops will be available to purchase. Please note, BYO alcoholic drinks are not allowed.
Patrons are urged to bring plenty of cash for the silent auction, and live auction of artwork by renowned local artist Jo Davidson.
As Birdwood residents, Jo and her partner Steve have witnessed the stress, anguish and loss caused by bushfires first-hand, as well as the magnificent efforts of our Rural Fire Service volunteers.
The Pappinbarra community hoped they would never experience a repeat of the devastating fire in February 2017, but sadly, homes, sheds and property essentials have been destroyed in recent weeks.
Wauchope Arts President Deb Murrell says the organization has many friends and members living in the hills and valleys west of Wauchope.
"We have always had a close connection with Pappinbarra and the surrounding villages, so it is only natural for us to lend a hand to these communities," Deb said.
"When we heard the Pappinbarra RFS base itself had also been damaged, we decided to focus our fundraising efforts in that area," Deb explained.
"Collection buckets will be on hand for donations, and we guarantee 100 per cent of the cash raised on the day will go to support the Pappinbarra and Hollisdale RFS brigades."
Wauchope Community Arts Hall is located in Oxley Lane, next to the Rotary Youth Hall. Limited parking is available on-site, as well as in Avondale Street, on the other side of Bain Park.
Those unable to make it on the day can donate via Trybooking at www.trybooking.com/BGZUK
