Grace McKenzie knows exactly what she wants to do: follow in the footsteps of her father and become a police officer. She says she did surprisingly well in her HSC exams.
"I thought I was going to do a lot worse, but it's all right," she smiled.
"I'm going into the police force. I've applied for step one which starts on January 12. It's an eight-week online course to prepare me for it, and hopefully, if I successfully complete that, then I apply for the police force in Goulburn.
"My Dad's a police officer and I always wanted to be in that scene, hands on, dealing with people. I think I will come back to this area after I've trained."
Shakira Porter was pleased with her results which enable her to pursue a career in the performing arts.
"I did better than I expected. I want to get into acting and film-making. I'm going to do an online screen and media course at TAFE, so I'll stay here for a year, and then move to Sydney.
"I want to get into acting more. I did drama in Year 11 and 12, and also film-making."
Lani Swinnerton was surprised and delighted with her HSC results, which will see her go to university in Newcastle to study business and law.
"I'm doing Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Law Honours. I will either do something legal or something with a business background, or I might get a teaching degree as well, so I can teach. The good thing about Newcastle is that it's a day trip there and back so I can come back often," she said.
Wauchope High School principal Glen Sawle said there are some great results, as always.
"Every student who did music managed to get either a Band 5 or a Band 6. Some of our results have been excellent, and we are proud of all our students for their hard work," said Mr Sawle.
Many NSW HSC students will soon be able to relax and enjoy the Christmas holidays. Their ATARs were released today and they won't have long to wait to find out if they've been offered a place at uni.
The Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will release offers next week, in December Round 2, on Monday 23 December. Applicants can check if they have an offer on the My UAC mobile app or on UAC's website from 7.30am.
Students have until midnight this Thursday 19 December to finalise their course preferences for this round.
Kim Paino, General Manager of Marketing and Engagement at UAC, said, 'The pre-Christmas offer round ensures that offers are made to as many students as possible and as soon as possible, so students don't have an agonising wait to find out if they've got into a course. But there's not much time between ATAR release and the deadline for changing preferences so students need to be organised to maximise their chances of getting an offer.'
Further information about changing your preferences is available on UAC's website.
