14 year old Hayley Eggleton from Wauchope has been selected to play in the under 15's Girls Country Basketball Team. It will compete against teams from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales metro country teams at the Southern Cross Challenge.
The comp will be held at the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne from Thursday January 16 to Monday January 20.
Hayley, who is quite an achiever, has been playing basketball since 2016, and has been selected to play in many major basketball events over the years, and in September 2019 she gained selection in the Top 10 under 15's SCC team over several hundred of other girls.
Hayley hopes her good form will continue and that one day she will be selected to represent Australia at the Olympics.
Stephen Perkins Chairman of the Lions Sports Foundation said that the Lions Club wish Hayley and the team the best of luck.
"We are very happy to be able to lend a helping hand by being able to relieve some of the financial burden that comes with competing at a national level," he said.
Mr Perkins added that without local sponsors such as Wauchope Physiotherapy & Sports Rehab Centre this would not be possible.
