Calling all women footy players - come and join the Long Flat Dragons Women's 13's.
Captain Stephanie Ostler says they are trying to get a team for the 2020 season, and are delighted that three players - Naomi George, Ellie Johnston, who play for the Rabbitohs, and Teleah Waitoa who plays for the West Tigers - have been selected for the North Coast Bulldogs team.
"We are going with our girls who previously played in the 9's, and their achievements over these last couple of years to show girls what you can achieve playing football, including fitness and friendships.
"We just started up fresh in 9's. We had a few players but with injuries and other girls having responsibilities. Rugby league is also very family-orientated. We have a few mothers in our team. It's probably one of the only sports where we have the opportunity to train and play the same day and place as our partners. This makes it convenient for the whole family."
Naomi George started playing netball, then moved into football when the Wauchope Thunder rugby union team started in 2015. She took up playing rugby league for Kendall.
"When Stephanie said she was struggling for numbers at Long Flat, Ellie Johnston and I came over. Kendall had heaps of girls there," she said.
Ellie Johnston has also played netball since she was a little girl.
"I gave rugby union a go, and went pretty far up in that. It was easy to make the transition to league. I just used the same skills. I made NSW country," she said.
