Two young families, an Irishwoman and a woman from Thailand were among those who officially became Australian at the 2020 Australia Day ceremony at Wauchope Showground.
Mayor Peta Pinson welcomed them and Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie read a message from Citizenship minister, David Coleman.
"We are immensely proud of what we have achieved as a nation and we welcome you in joining us. We believe in freedom, the rule of law and democracy.
"You have chosen to embrace our nation and its values and take on the rights and responsibilities of Australian citizenship. It is now your responsibility to join all of us to build an even stronger nation," he said.
Ruth Herod and Paul Buttle moved here from England and live at King Creek with their young sons, Sam and Finn.
"It's a great day for us. We feel part of the community," said Ruth.
"It means we can stay here along with our children," said Paul.
Alison O'Hea from Ireland said it was a wonderful day.
"I am grateful and honoured to be part of this great country. I'm married to an Australian and I have three children here. Today is very special. I feel very blessed to be part of this community," she said.
"This is an amazing country and it's unique in so many ways and we have got to look after it. We can do it."
