The reunion was set down for March 28.
Organising Committee member Chris Hancock said this decision not to proceed has been based on current public health data, a number of paid attendees who are now unable to attend, advice from the RSL hierarchy and common sense.
"Depending on the length and severity of the COVID crisis, the organisers are hoping to suggest an alternate date as soon as we can," he said.
In the meantime, the organising committee has the names of all the people who have paid for their tickets.
The total ticket money is being held securely in the Regional Australia Bank.
These tickets will remain valid until the new date is established.
"As this situation is a long way away from its conclusion, the committee cannot set a new date at this point, but we are looking to go as soon as the restrictions are lifted," Mr Hancock said.
"When we do, patrons who have paid for their ticket, but cannot attend for whatever reason are entitled to a refund of their ticket cost."
If anyone particularly needs a refund now, they can contact Chris Hancock to organise this process.
"In the meantime, the delay that has been caused by this unfortunate event could be a great thing for this event, as now there will be an opportunity for even more people to buy a ticket and join the great group of ex-Westies who have already signed up," Mr Hancock said.
