Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey, said the $1.6 million improvement project would build upon safety measures at other locations.
"The work will involve installing an extra rail below the existing guardrail near Mount Seaview and is designed to stop bikers involved in an accident from sliding into a crash barrier's steel posts."
Mrs Pavey said more rails were expected to be installed at other locations along the Oxley Highway later this year.
"Other safety improvements will also be carried out to extend guardrail in some areas, along with improvements to signs," Mrs Pavey said.
"The upcoming installation of the protection rail was initiated as a result of consultation with key motorcycle groups."
Work is underway near Mount Seaview and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2021, weather permitting.
Work will be carried out from 6.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays, with traffic reduced to one lane during work hours.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
