AUSTRALIA'S drag queens will bring the el amor to living rooms across the country on April 22.

This glamorous and sparkle-loaded event is not just a reunion of some of the best Australia's Got Drag performers, it will be an opportunity to raise awareness about how the COVID-19 pandemic is crippling some of the world's poorest communities.

Former Port Macquarie local and co-creator of Australia's Got Drag, Nick Cameron (aka Misty Boxx), invites everyone to tune in and enjoy the show and share some community spirit.

The London-based performer will be joined by co-host GJ Hayward (aka Arie Ola) and an enviable line-up including reigning queen Koko Verdose, Betty Confetti, Freeda Tuck, Miss Poppy, Tracey Adams and Kenya Sing.

"No matter where you are in the world at the moment there is something that is affecting everyone," Nick said.

"The people of Columbia for example, are not entitled to any government benefits to get them through this time and if they are, they are only getting roughly 40 pounds a month to keep their families going. That's 80 Australian dollars.

"We can help families like those in Columbia come out of this crisis and keep them safe and fed."

Koko Verdose (aka Den Nash) grew up in Wingham and lived in Laurieton before moving to Queensland to pursue a career on stage.

Winning the 2019 Australia's Got Drag competition in Port Macquarie was the performer's first title win.

"There will be interviews with all contestants and performances along with a special interview with Javier Bernier who created the fundraiser for those in Colombia who need our help at this time," Nick said.

Both Nick and GJ moved to London last year but with the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, Australia's Got Drag has been postponed for 2020.

Nick says plans for Australia's Got Drag 2021 are well underway and it will be back "bigger and better than ever".

Tune into the Australia's Got Drag Facebook page on April 22 at 7.30pm AEST for the live show.
