At the end of last year the Lavington netballer was rushed to hospital for emergency bowel surgery, leaving her bedridden for the two months that followed.
At the time she had been at the finishing line to gain her qualifications as a personal trainer, completing her final assessment from a hospital bed.
Last month Coughlan was finally able to share her new skills with others after landing a job at a gym in Thurgoona.
But with social distancing measure rolled out to fight the spread of COVID-19, Coughlan lost both of her jobs in one fell swoop as gyms and pubs closed around the nation.
With netball games and training also off the cards, Coughlan decided to share her fitness expertise online, setting up her own Instagram page dedicated to at home equipment free workouts.
She said the idea stemmed from helping her Panther teammates through training sessions on Zoom.
"The Lavington sessions are what really inspired me," Coughlan said.
"About two weeks ago one of the girls messaged me asking if I wanted to put together a training session.
"Because I was making my own sessions to do every day, I'd accumulated a lot and the girls started messaging me asking to send them workouts.
"It got to the point where I had so many people messaging me that someone suggested making a page.
"I just thought while I have this knowledge, I may as well share it at the moment.
When she's not providing online workout content Coughlan is also a full time occupational therapy student in her second year at Charles Sturt University.
That too has now been shifted to an online approach.
The 21-year-old admits while the effects of the pandemic are taking it's toll, she's grateful to be back on her feet again.
"I'm very grateful for my health right now," she said.
"I was quite fit and active before (the surgery) so I've just been slowly getting back into routine and getting my fitness levels back to where they were.
"The whole COVID situation is taking it's toll. People are losing their jobs, me included.
"Netball is a bit of an outlet so not being able to do that has been a bit difficult, but we're all getting through it.
"Our coach has been great in keeping us all connected and accountable and doing what we can off the court in terms of fitness."
O and M netball is on hold until at least May 31.
This season would mark Coughlan's third as a Panther.
