A Brisbane man lured his estranged lover to his mother's home with an apology after a row then violently bashed her until neighbours stepped in.

Tyrone Robert Cecil Drew, 26, pleaded guilty to a slew of charges, including assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and strangulation, after he attacked his now ex-girlfriend in September last year.
It comes six years after he pretended to be a woman on social media to lure a teenage boy to a secluded park, where he viciously assaulted him.
His latest victim had earlier fled in fear from Drew's mother's house, where she also lived, after he became aggressive, the Supreme Court was told.
She later returned after he lured her home with a string of phone calls apologising for his threatening behaviour, Justice Helen Bowskill said on Monday.
"You called her a 'dumb bitch' for coming back and told her you were going to kill her ... if she woke your mother," she said.
Drew then savagely bashed the woman before pulling her hair and placing her in a chokehold while he pressed his knee into her back.
"She screamed for help. You tried to silence her by pressing her face into the couch," Justice Bowskill said.
"She was unable to draw breath. Her vision started to go black. She thought she was going to die."
The woman was saved when Drew's mother banged on the door to the room.
"You opened the door for your mother and as you did the complainant ran (through it)," Justice Bowskill said.
But Drew was not finished with her. As she fought to escape the house he smashed her across the head with a torch until neighbours heard her screams and stepped in.
She was taken to hospital with injuries to her face, head, neck, shoulder and back.
"It is quite frankly a miracle that is all that she suffered," Justice Bowskill said.
"You came with a hair's breadth of killing that woman in a violent rage."
"I feel disgusted."
Justice Bowskill said it was the "ultimate form of cowardice to behave in such a violent manner towards somebody you were supposed to be in an intimate caring relationship with".
"I think in order to stamp out this kind of conduct in our community, deterrent penalties are warranted," she said.
She sentenced him to five years imprisonment with parole eligibility after 18 months.
