"Are you ready? #PWRUP," the band posted alongside a photo of the new composition of the band with singer Brian Johnson, Angus Young and Stevie Young on guitars, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd.
In 2017 guitarist and group founder Malcolm Young died with dementia. His role will be taken by his nephew Stevie.
Even before that, a reunion seemed unlikely.
In 2015, drummer Rudd pleaded guilty in New Zealand to drug possession and threatening to kill, which kept him out of the band's 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, which Johnson left due to hearing problems (he was replaced by Axl Rose from Guns N Roses on various dates).
After the tour, Williams announced his retirement.
The announcement comes 40 years after the release of ACDC's most successful album "Back in Black," but the new release could coincide with the date Young died on November 18, as a tribute to him.
AC/DC has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, including 71.5 million copies in the United States alone, and has been one of the most popular bands on the planet.
