The residents of Pappinbarra Valley say they’re overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from their local neighbours and from many across the country.

Heather Smith, whose home was saved by firefighters, said the generosity has been incredible.

“We have seen so many different offers of help, donated goods, offers to fundraise and so much more - but it is hard to keep track of what is being done,” she said.

So there’s a new Facebook page, called Rebuild Pappinbarra, to act as a kind of matchmaking service between goods and services offered and donated and the community there who may need them.

“Many of our community are not online, so we are creating a register of affected families (collected at last night's community meeting) to use to cross-reference with the offers made on this page,” added Heather.

“Please share this page around, and ensure that if you want to offer something to our Pappinbarra residents, that you log it on this page.

“We will do our best to make sure that your support is received. If you are unsure of how to help, please contact us.

“If you want to talk to someone about what our community needs, there are phone numbers on the page.

“Thank you to everyone who has already donated, offered, shown up and more.  We will rebuild Pappinbarra,” she said.
