The moment we were all waiting for was the announcement of Wauchope Showgirl and the Junior Showgirl.
The winner of the showgirl competition was Madeline Dobson and for the first time ever, the shared equal runner ups were Hannah Shaw and Jessica Prussing.
Winner Madeline said she was completely overwhelmed.
"It is absolutely amazing to be named the 2018 Wauchope Showgirl but I think it will be a while before it all sinks in," Madeline said.
"It was such a tough competition but I hope to do the community proud this year."
The showgirl competition is such an empowering thing and I encourage all young girls and women to think about entering next year.
- Madeline Dobson.
Madeline said the competition is such a good thing for young girls in the community.
"I am so excited for the many opportunities to serve the community this year," she said.
"The showgirl competition is such an empowering thing and I encourage all young girls and women to think about entering next year."
The winner of the Junior Showgirl was Hannah Leicht and the runner up was Simone Ducker.
"I think the nerves are still racing so it doesn't seem real that I have actually won," Hannah said.
"I just want to thank everyone who sponsors the showgirl competition and to all the entrants, we are all winners in my eyes."
On hand to deliver the good news was 2018 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl, Nikki Gibbs, fresh from her win at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
"I am just so incredibly proud of all the showgirl entrants for putting themselves up for the competition," Ms Gibbs said.
"The calibre of the girls this year was phenomenal and it is just so amazing that they were willing to get out of their comfort zone to compete."
Ms Gibbs said she hopes to lead by example in her role as Royal Showgirl.
"I hope I can offer support to the 2018 Wauchope winners," she said.
"I want to make a difference in my community this year and mentor all the showgirls in any way I can."
